Memorial Day
One of two bookend holidays that delineate the summer holiday season in the US, Memorial Day is, on the last Monday of May, much more important than its "sister holiday" at the other end of the season that it does map out - Labor Day, on the first Monday of September.
Anyone with a heart and who has NOT uttered the inane expression "get a job" would agree too, I am sure...
Memorial Day, one has to admit, is, at its very essence, the remembrance of man's folly - and the mourning of those who had to pay with their lives for that folly.
Of all the innumerable dumb creations of man, war has to be the most obtuse...
At least, the other three horsemen were not created by man (death and pestilence, for sure - as for famine, it could be so easily neutralized. But the rules of capitalism forbid it, so... That is another sad story, yes...)
