R.I.P. GeoCities...
And So It Goes...
Everything that comes easy
goes away just as easily...
GeoCities died this year -
for most of its smart users anyways, it did.
As a free website building tool,
it was still limiting and frustrating
and certainly not worth
any investment, as it was asked this year
in order to safeguard all that you had
on that dreary platform...
With background images as bland as the one above
-although it is a nice blue sky and all-
or archaic such as a disquette design
GeoCities was indeed doomed to die
an ignominious cyberdeath, indeed!
I was extremely dissatisfied with it
and kept it up, since 2005 or so,
only for the extra bandwidth usage...
Images linked to it, of course,
many of which were here on the
TLB Prime Network on Blogger,
vanished into thin air too...
I'll upload them straight onto here,
sometime... When possible...!
From GeoCities, only vague memories will remain -
personally, I had a profile there...
Some sort of online résumé...
Samples of my writing...
Oh, there were also *poetry pages* there...
And my theme song for the site
as for myself, as a GeoCities user,
simply had to be this one:
Nota Bene: granted, initially,
I had the original video by Gnarls,
the one chock-full of rorschach tests...
But since I'm such a Star Wars fan too
-or rather, still was back in 2005-
I kinda like this live performance
with Chewbacca on drums, especially!
There you go -
Rest In Peace, GeoCities
2005-2009, as far as I am concerned!
We hardly knew thee...
And that is GOOD.
